Observances of
the Earth and Sun
Using the Gaulish calendar and applying the
interpretations of Professor Olmsted, our observances of the Earth and Sun center
around four major Earth festivals of Celtic tradition along with the solstices and equinoxes.
For background on the Gaulish Calendar, we
recommend referencing the following works by Olmsted:
"The Use of Ordinal Numerals on the Gaulish
Calendar" by Garrett Olmsted, The Journal of Indo-European Studies, Volume 16
Numbers 3+4 - 1988
"The Gaulish Calendar" by Garrett Olmsted,
1992
"A definitive Reconstructed Text of the
Coligny Calendar" by Garrett Olmsted, Journal of Indo-European Studies Monograph
No. 39, 2001
For
background on our observances, we recommend referencing Alexei Kondratiev's "The
Apple Branch" pages 103-219 which goes into great detail discussing the mythology
and symbolism related to these observances.
